I am left with a question. How are you going to regulate the millions of electronic messages that originate outside the jurisdition of the FTC. I feel certain there will be no forthcoming answer to my query. When a federal commission stops the far more insidious dangerous and costly effects of computer viruses, I'll be convinced there is an issue with unsolicited e-mail. Could the commission please take up something more relevant? I'd like to keep my United States Postal mailbox empty of unsolicited mail. But of course, that's the job of the Post Commission, not the Federal Trade Commission. Please, Commisioners, find something relevant and meaningful to do with your time. I reviewed the total number of government commissions and agencies at the 'agencies.gov' web site. I CANNOT BELIEVE there are almost ninety government bodies like yours, whose payroll comes out of the public trust, operating to come up with ideas as inane as the CAN-SPAM act. I think I'm totally capable of emtying out my email box, and I don't need the FTC to decide what I should and shouldnt receive in that highly personal virtual space. Thank you for your time, although I'm pretty sure no one will read this, I feel much better now. Regards, Duane Bentzen
