Annotation: THIS POLICE MANAGEMENT STUDY WAS PREPARED FOR THE SHAWNEE (OK) POLICE DEPARTMENT, WHOSE 48 PERSONNEL SERVE 26,000 PERSONS, AND IS DATED MARCH 23, 1973.
Abstract: THIS REPORT WAS REQUESTED BECAUSE THE INCUMBENT POLICE CHIEF WAS RETIRING, AND THE CITY GOVERNMENT WANTED TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY CHANGES IN POLICE ORGANIZATION WITH THE CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE FOR THE ELUCIDATION OF THE CHAINS OF COMMAND, AN ENHANCED PLANNING CAPABILITY BASED ON POLICE RECORDS, BETTER MANPOWER DEPLOYMENT, AND IMPROVED SUPPLY HANDLING PROCEDURES.
