Animating Democracy Initiative
 Seeking arts-based civic dialogue
project profiles.
 Second group of organizations invited to participate in the Lab.

The Animating Democracy Initiative (ADI) is a four-year programmatic initiative of Americans for the Arts supported by The Ford Foundation. The Initiative fosters artistic activity that encourages civic dialogue on important contemporary issues through an integrated set of programs. These include funding support for arts-based civic dialogue projects through the ADI Lab, publications, national convenings, and an interactive website.



The Initiative is now seeking profiles of arts-based civic dialogue projects for its online interactive database.

The Metropolitan Life Foundation YouthARTS Initiative:
Americans for the Arts and The Metropolitan Life Foundation awards $100,000 in program development grants to ten community-based organizations in the first year of this Initiative.

Public Art Network:
Americans for the Arts announces the launch of the Public Art Network (PAN), a new program that provides services and networking opportunities for public art professionals, artists, design professionals, and organizations planning public art programs. PAN generates dialogue on public art issues through a listserv and this website.

Performance Portraits:
Americans for the Arts collaborates with District Curators Inc. to produce two jazz-focused documentaries.
