I would like to provide the following comments concerning the proposed Sprint/Nextel merger. The following was sent to Sprint recently: I built a home and moved into it in May. At that time Sprint rep told me DSL service would be available by late summer. Here it is Christmas and still no DSL. It seems that you folks can spend millians on merging, but can not give your local customers service. I have two options other than Sprint. I can disconnect my land line phone and use my Sun Com cells and purchase internet by dish, which is very expensive and I don't feel I should be forced into that situation. The other optain is for you folks to provide your customers with the service they expect. I plan to contact my Congressman who is very knowledgeable with the SCC, FTC and other regulatory agencies. I would hope he would oppose the merger since you can not now provide service to your existing customers. We prople in Rural Southwest Virginia have always been treated as second class citizens by Sprint. I also expect this message is time wasted, you don't care about us small customers This is the reply from Sprint: From : Victor C <dsltechsupport@mail.sprint.com> Sent : Friday, December 17, 2004 4:52 PM To : Billhall40@hotmail.com Subject : Re: Sprint DSL - Other <<#440721-987382#>> William, thank you for using Sprint Online Support. Thank you for your interest in Sprint's FastConnect DSL service. Unfortunately, it is not currently available at your location. Sprint’s DSL FastConnect is expanding, however there is no timetable for Sprint’s DSL at your location. I have requested a letter be sent to you notifying you 30 days prior to Sprint’s FastConnect DSL service deployment at your location. In the meantime, I am showing the possible availability of Sprint’s ISDN service at your location. ISDN is a high speed digital line, which is faster than a 56K connection. Although ISDN shows available in your area, there still exists a possibility that it will not be available to your particular location or that there could be additional charges for the service due to facility constraints. If this is the case, we will contact you with information before attempting to install the service. Please do not purchase non-returnable equipment until the service has been activated. If you consider ISDN as an alternative and would like to place an order or speak with an ISDN representative to receive additional information, please call 1 877-646-3282, option 1, 2, 1. Please feel free to contact us again via the Internet, if you have any other further questions or problems. Thank you again for contacting Sprint, have a nice day! My comments: Please see if we customers in Southwest Va can get the service they need and deserve. Thank you for your time. William H Hall Billhall62@hotmail.com
