Summary
This dataset contains shapefiles of topographical data for Semuliki
National Park, in Western Uganda: Towns, Subcounties, International
boundary, Contours, Counties, Digital Elevation Model, Districts,
Vegetation_LB ( Langdale-Brown), Landcover/Use Stratification,
Parishes, Rivers ( small, seasonal and and major), Roads, and Park
boundaries. The dataset ... was obtained from Makerere University
Institute of Environment and Natural Resources (MUIENR), and is held
at the Uganda Wildlife Authority on the Monitoring and Research Unit
(MRU) Server.

Process description of how the data was derived from the source
including information on topology and other quality aspects : TNTmips
was used to convert the contours (awr_contours) into a surface raster
(through a process of contour interpolating and surface fitting using
the minimum curvature algorithm). The surface raster (DEM) was
exported to ArcView as an image file (*.gis). The image file (DEM)
was converted to grid file format in ArcView The DEM was divided by a
factor of 3.048 to convert it from feet to meters The grid file format
was converted into shape file format.

Arc/Info *.E00 files (z561adm, z563adm) were imported into TNTmips.
The files were exported to ArcView 3.1 and 'line' was selected as the
data type to export. In ArcView, after merging, the query builder was
used to identify all boundary lines with code 4001 The selected
boundary line were converted to a shape file (snp_interbnd.shp)

(e.g. omissions, selection criteria, generalization, etc.) The mask
covering the extents of SNP and surrounding areas was used to extract
(clip) Langdale-Brown vegetation map. The extracted portion of
Langdale-Brown vegetation map was projected from Lat/lon to UTM in
TNTmips and exported back to ArcView.
