How do I...?

Interaction How-To

Zoom in on a view?
The easiest way to do this is to use the interactive zoom commands - hold down the 'z' key while dragging the mouse up and down (z = zoom), or hold down the 'r' key while dragging a box or a range (r = range).
Move a view left/right/up/down?
Try the interactive pan commands - hold down the 'p' key while dragging the mouse left/right/up/down (p = pan). Please note that some views do not offer this mode for moving up and down. You can also try the scroll bars to adjust the position of the image.
Select something?
Left-click should select things in all views. Using CTRL-left click (control key + left click together) will add things to your selection. Some views (particularly tabular views) also support Shift-left click to extend the selection between selected items. An additional mode exists in a couple of views (the Graphical View in particular) called marquee selection - left-click-drag on the view opens up a selection box to select a bunch of things together. Selections in the ruler bars act a little differently. Holding down CTRL while selecting extends, and Shift subtracts. Also, selections in the ruler bar can be aadjusted by dragging the edges along the ruler bar.
