Dealing with Large Files

The best way to deal with a large file is often to simply download it to your computer rather than trying to display it in the browser. Large files can exhaust the memory available to the browser and the download will fail as the browser runs out of memory. Try these tricks to download a file directly to your hard disk:

WINDOWS browsers

Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows - Click the link with the right mouse button. From the pop-up menu select "Save Target As..."

Netscape Communicator/Navigator for Windows - Click the link with the right mouse button. From the pop-up menu select "Save Link As..."

MACINTOSH browsers

Netscape Communicator/Navigator for Macintosh - Click the link and HOLD down the mouse button. From the pop-up menu select "Save this Link as..." OR Hold down the option key while clicking the link.

Microsoft Internet Explorer for Macintosh - Click the link and HOLD down the mouse button. From the pop-up menu select "Download link to disk..." OR Hold down the option key and click. This will activate the Download Manager.
