NOTE: Beginning in 2003, the Current Population Survey/Housing Vacancy Survey (CPS/HVS) estimates
are controlled to independent housing unit counts. These estimates are also now based on
Census 2000. 2002 data are revised to reflect this change.
1Beginning in January 1982, the weighting changed to reflect results of 1980 Census.
Weighting changes increases Estimates of Household by approximately two percent.
2 A household consists of all persons who occupy a housing unit. This includes the
related family members and all unrelated persons who share the housing unit. A
person living alone in a housing unit, or a group of unrelated persons sharing a
housing unit as partners, is also counted as a household. The count of households
is the same as the count of occupied housing units.
3March estimates are from basic (nonsupplement) counts and therefore differ from
published Current Population Report March household estimates.
