CBP Border Patrol Agents Seize More Than 1,100 Pounds of Marijuana

contacts for this news releaseLa Rosita, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents working near La Rosita, Texas, intercepted 1,157 pounds of marijuana yesterday. The contraband has an estimated value of nearly $1 million.Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station responded to a suspicious vehicle leaving the riverbank at a high rate of speed. The driver of the vehicle made some abrupt turns in an attempt to evade the agents and later abandoned the white pick-up truck in front of a residence in La Rosita, Texas.As agents approached the vehicle, they observed numerous bundles of marijuana in the bed of the truck. A search of the abandoned truck revealed a total of 1,157 pounds of marijuana, valued at nearly 1 million dollars.
