What Are Democrats Hiding with Stimulus?
House expected to spend a trillion dollars tomorrow, but can’t see what it’s on today

Washington, Feb 12 - Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement as Republicans and the American people await the text of a nearly trillion dollar spending bill that is supposed to be passed as soon as tomorrow.

“While the American people are looking for solutions to our economic troubles, congressional Democrats continue to keep their massive spending bill under a cloak of secrecy,” said Chairman Price. “Suggesting that a bill, possibly 1,000 pages in length and costing nearly a trillion dollars, should be read in a matter of hours is not only irresponsible; it is deceitful. Democrats are asking the American people to risk the prosperity of their grandchildren on a package of political projects, but do not have the respect to present their proposal in the light of day. Rather than using an economic crisis as pretext to keep the American people in the dark, I call on congressional Democrats to unveil whatever it is they are hiding.”

Note: The Republican Study Committee has introduced the Economic Recovery and Middle-Class Tax Relief Act, legislation based on three main themes: 1) Support Families through Tax Relief; 2) Provide Economic Relief for American Businesses and Entrepreneurs; and 3) Save Future Generations from a Crushing Debt Burden.  For a full summary, click here.
