This agreement establishes the framework for mutual cooperation among Alaska's Departments of Law, Public Safety, Health and Social Services, and Corrections in their response to reported instances of child sexual abuse. |
Abstract:
|
The goals of the agreement are to provide protection, treatment, and continuing support for child sexual abuse victims and their family members; to ensure that child sexual abuse cases are immediately and properly investigated and, if appropriate, effectively prosecuted; to increase reporting of child sexual abuse cases; and to provide treatment, when appropriate, to offenders. The agreement encompasses mutual reporting responsibilities and the actions of agencies and organizations. The latter cover intent and purposes, the development of internal policies and procedures as well as local community protocols, the training of agency members, intervention and investigation, and the sharing of information. General policies and procedures for child sexual abuse cases are detailed for each of the four departments. Model local agreements are included. |
