Under the provisions of Cir 32, Hq European Theater of Operations U.S. Army, 20 March 44, as amended, the Bronze Star Medal is awarded to the following named Officers and Enlisted Men:
 
FRANK G. JOHNSON, K-100002, Lt. Col., Field Artillery,

(U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey), ***FA Obsn. Bn., who while serving with the Army of the United States distinguished himself by meritorious service during the period 10 Sep 44 to 8 Nov 44 in France, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States. Entered military service from Washington.

CITATION TO ACCOMPANY GENERAL ORDER
 
A Bronze Star Medal is awarded to FRANK G. JOHNSON, K-100002, Lt. Col., Field Artillery (U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey), 14th FA Obsn. Bn., who while serving with the Army of the United States distinguished himself by meritorious service during the period 10 Sep 44 to 8 Nov 44 in France. Lt. Col. Johnson coordinated the survey of the artillery with the Corps in such an efficient manner as to contribute materially to the success of our operations against the enemy. In addition by his initiative, energy and wide professional knowledge, he was responsible for getting all of the artillery with the Corps on a common direction making possible accurate massed fires. Lt. Col. Johnson's aggressiveness and untiring efforts reflect great credit on his character as an officer and upon the military service.

1. Under the provisions of Cir 32, Hq European Theater of Operations U.S. Army, 20 Mar 44, as amended, in addition to the Bronze Star Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster previously awarded, a Second Oak Leafr Cluster to the Bronze Star Medal is awarded to the following named Officers:

FRANK G. JOHNSON, K-100002, Lt. Col., USC&GS, *** FA Obsn. Bn., who while serving with the Army of the United States distinguished himself by meritorious service during the period 1 Mar 45 to 23 Mar 45 in Germany, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States. Entered military service from Washington.

CITATION TO ACCOMPANY GENERAL ORDER

In addition to the Bronze Star Medal previously awarded, a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster to the Bronze Star Medal is awarded to FRANK G. JOHNSON, K-100002, Lt. Col., USC&GS, 286th Field Artillery Observation Bn., who while serving with the Army of the United States distinguished himself by meritorious service during the period 1 Mar 45 to 23 Mar 45, in Germany. Lt. Col. Johnson was Corps Artillery Survey Officer during the rapid advance of the XII Corps from the Echternach-Bitburg area to the Rhine River near Koblens, Germany, thence south and east to Worms, Germany. Operating under conditions of combat most unfavorable to survey operations, Lt. Col. Johnson displayed unusual initiative , alertness of foresight and agressive planning. His work resulted in maintaining a maximum of survey information available to all the units over an unusually large and irregular front. His unrelenting efforts to provide essential survey data to all units and his faithful devotion to duty reflects great credit upon himself and the Armed Services.
