Objective:
Providing support to produce a scientific publication - a CAST Commentary - based on work by a task force of experts, on the topic of agriculture and energy convergence and the implications of that convergence for policy and research.

Approach:
Discuss the use of energy in agriculture and food industries with respect to energy consumption. Describe federal (and state) policies that directly affect the use of energy in agricultural and food production systems within the United States. Suggest changes to policies that aid the agricultural and food industries in the transition to an energy-sustainable, policy-supported approach in the United States.
