Representative Robert E. Andrews
New Jersey — First Congressional District
Message of the Day

REP. ANDREWS MEETS WITH CONSTITUENTS
TO ADDRESS CONCERNS OVER ANTHRAX ATTACKS
October 18, 2001

Today, I met with employees of Accu Staffing Services in Cherry Hill to answer their questions and address their concerns over recent Anthrax attacks in Florida, New York, and the Nation's Capitol.  Despite the fact that the House of Representatives has been closed as a precautionary measure, I want my constituents to know that their Federal government is still hard at work.  I explained to these men and women that they should continue to go about their normal routines yet they should be vigilant in regard to their personal safety.

I want to reassure my constituents that the FBI and United States Postal Inspectors are working hard to prevent future Anthrax attacks and to locate and prosecute the individuals that are perpetrating these attacks. Given the overwhelming amount of information flowing out of a variety of sources concerning these attacks, it has been difficult to separate fact from myth. Today’s meeting proved to be an excellent forum to offer these individuals an opportunity to voice their concerns and have their questions answered directly from an authoritative source.  I look forward to meeting with more of my constituents in the upcoming days.

I would also like my constituents to know that our district offices remain open to serve the residents of the First Congressional District.  Our district office is currently handling all calls and emails that would normally have been directed to our D.C. office.  We do not expect this closure to effect any of our operations and all district staff are available to assist our constituents.
