ICD STATUS - week of November 12, 1997 please send corrections/additions to Elizabeth Gallas Wednesday 2pm UTA (FNAL and LT by phone) CALIBRATION STATUS Paul we need to find someplace that polishes scintillator, specifically the distribution block for the laser, about 1"x1"x1cm. EG will consult with FNAL types to see if we can find a tech. Update: Karen kephart in lab7 should know. Paul reports that a test drill on a scrap piece of scintillator went pretty well, but have to fine-tune one place in the NC mill where there seems to be a glitch. Due to this problem with inconsistancy, Paul is reluctant to set it loose on a polished piece just yet. Some brackets for the LED distribution block are being made. A trial fit inside the backplace looks like it will be easy to do. Working up order for more LEDs. MODULE TEST STAND STATUS Mark/Victor Mark and Victor got the shipment of lemo cables replacing the unsheilded cable that were introducing alot of noise to the system. The hv cow and new tile have arrived. Since it is already set up, they'll continue to test the 5mm tile for now. RUN 1 BOX TEST RESULTS/STATUS Mihn 25 Run 1 ICD boxes have been tested, so we have data for 75 channels. Mark has made some plots, see the ps links on the icd web page. POLISHER STATUS Jia Li Paul reports that student who was working on it is gone but the writeup exists and the safety switches work. PO for the diamond bit is finished and bits were ordered last week. MODULE BOX UPDATE Jia Li (EG/AW meeting w/Jim) Jia Li has made further progress on the box design including folded edges at the eta=1.4 boundary. The thickness of the box at the eta=1.4 boundary is now nearly 7/8" (previously 1") without much slack. JL talked to swiss about making a box. EG/AW will talk to jim first. The numbers EG has are inconsistant with the numbers reported today. Andy should bring the latest numbers to FNAL with him this week in order to discuss the issue with Jim. UPDATE: EG/AW met with Jim, showing him the new al box design, which includes folded al edges at the eta=1.4 boundary. Using 1/16" thick aluminum and 1/2" scintillting tile wrapped in tyvek, black paper and black tape, the new box is about 0.85" tall including some reasonable tolorance (a 15% reduction). Al corners are rounded with bending (not sharp). Jim thinks that this is reasonable and will inform Jon Kotcher to proceed with his design on this basis. Jim requests that we keep him informed on progress on this and any other issues. Andy White summarized the box thickness status, which is appended to the bottom of this file. ELECTRONICS STATUS Lee/Derek Lee and Co. have finished testing pmts in light tight box. PMTs all okay so they are continuing to test the other components. Derek has finished the layout for ground plane (which exists on the motherboard whereever there are no components). He is now working on putting together prototype mother board - one big board contains all daughter cards - this may or may not represent the final design: The purpose is to do a preliminary test of all components simultaneously. The design includes a baffle which separates pmts from electronics, which closely resembles jia li's last drawing of the drawers. FIBER CABLE UPDATE Lee PO is done, order is in. Lee talked to Mitsubishi about the polarity of the connectors, but order may have already gone out to the factory. Kathleen is working on fiber cable tester. MISCELLANEOUS PO STATUS Jia Li/ Mark/ Kaushik/ Lee CONNECTOR POLISHER DIAMOND BITS - order is in IRON BLOCKS - order is in - delivery date is before xmax BICRON EPOXY/PAINT - has been ordered CAMAC CONTROLLER CARD - has been ordered. FIBER CONNECTORS - Victor has info, working on order PMT SOCKETS - Kaushik still needs to order ICD TDR REVIEW Andy/Lee/Kaushik/Eliz/Paul REVIEW DATE - we strongly prefer 5-dec-97 SUGGESTED AGENDA - wait till end of week to send to mont/harry. here is the current agenda with appearance of some people not known (we probably can't afford to send everyone, but we want to have the experts here ...): Speakers should talk for NO longer than half the time allotted in each session.
