 HTSUS Numbers Potentially Subject to SLA 2008
(09/02/2008)This is a list of HTS subheadings containing products that may be subject to the Softwood Lumber Act 2008.Please be advised that section 804(d) of the SLA 2008 provides that: “For purposes of determining if a product is covered by the importer declaration program, the President shall be guided by the article descriptions provided in this section.” Consequently, tariff numbers alone will not be sufficient to determine if articles are subject to the Act and the product definitions will control. If an article fits the description in the Act but is not classified in one of these subheadings, the description controls and the article is subject to the SLA 2008. This list contains subheadings under which items properly classified may be subject to the Softwood Lumber Act 2008. It is guidance only. Section 804(a) of the SLA 2008 describes products subject to the SLA 2008. Section 804(b) describes products excluded from the SLA 2008 requirements and section 804(c) lists exceptions for certain products.
