Title CONCRETE CONSISTENCY AND ITS PREDICTION
Accession No 00212521
Authors Popovics, S
Journal Title Matls & Structures, Res & Testing /Fr/ information
Publication Date   19660600
Abstract MORE THAN 200 CONCRETE MIXES OF DIFFERENT COMPOSITION WERE TESTED WITH VARIOUS METHODS OF MEASURING CONSISTENCY. EUROPEAN VERSIONS OF A PENETRATION TEST, A SLUMP TEST, A FLOW TEST AND A REMOLDING TEST WERE USED. IN ADDITION, THE CONSISTENCY WAS EVALUATED BY APPEARANCE. BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF THE TEST METHODS AND THE TEST RESULTS ARE PRESENTED. BASED ON THESE TEST RESULTS FORMULAS ARE DEVELOPED FOR THE PREDICTION OF WATER NEED OF A CONCRETE AS A FUNCTION OF TEST METHOD, CONSISTENCY, CEMENT CONTENT AND AGGREGATE GRADING. DIRECT AND INDIRECT COMPARISONS ARE SHOWN TO CHECK THE RELIABILITY OF THE NEW FORMULAS. FINALLY, FORMULAS ARE PRESENTED FOR THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CONSISTENCY MEASURES OF A CONCRETE THAT WERE DETERMINED BY TWO DIFFERENT TEST METHODS (FOR EXAMPLE, PENETRATIONS AND FLOW, ETC.) ALTHOUGH THE LIMITS OF VALIDITY OF THE NEW FORMULAS ARE RATHER RESTRICTED, IT IS BELIEVED THAT THEY CONTRIBUTE TO THE BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE MECHANISM OF CONCRETE CONSISTENCY AND WORKABILITY. /AUTHOR/
