Effects of Prolonged Space Flight on Brain Functions and Performance

NSSDC ID: 1969-056A-02
Mission Name: Biosatellite 3
Principal Investigator: Mr. W. R. Adey

Description

The objective of this experiment was to monitor brain functions and performance under prolonged weightlessness. Surface and deep electrodes were implanted in the brain of a primate. Cardiovascular function was measured. Total urine volume was measured daily. In-flight automated flourometric and colormetric analyses were made of periodic urine samples throughout the flight. The calcium, creatine, and creatinine balance in the pig-tailed monkey, Macaca Memestruna was messured during weightlessness.
