Children with disabilities are at greater risk of abuse than other children. While social, emotional, and behavioral consequences are almost universal and often severe, handicapped children often have a hard time accessing appropriate treatment. |
Abstract:
|
The Therapeutic Education for Abused Children with Handicaps (TEACH) program illustrates several important principles for program development, by being individualized, eclectic, generic, ecologically grounded, concrete, and evaluable. These criteria for child sexual abuse intervention programs for children with disabilities should be adopted as minimal standards. 5 references |
