ISSUES: Social stigma, lack of education and particularly sex education in STIs, HIV/AIDS. 3000 CFSWsin a city havung population of 40 lac, do not have exact knowledge of STIs symptom and vaginal discharge is consider as normal physiological disharge, treatment of STIs treated by unqualified persons, some treated self medicationin a cases tremendously even for other symptoms also CFSWs opt for spot therapy. DESCRIPTION: At Jyotisangh PSH Project has contacted 1600 CFSWs till date from this 314 CFSWs were recruited for the study. *Knowledge regarding symptoms of STIs, HIV/AIDS in CFSWs STIs: *138/314(43.9%) have heard of STIs. *76/138(55%) knew about abdominal vaginal discharge. *66/138(47.8%) knew about genital sore. HIV/AIDS: *162/314(52%) have ever heard of HIV/AIDS and rest (48%) have never heard of HIV/AIDS. Health seeking Behaviour: *69.2%(135) look some tratment from somewhere. *31.9%(63) didn't give any attention to STIs. LESSONS LEARNED: STIs, HIV/AIDS awereness in this high risk groupis alarming low, significant number CFSWs ignore the symptoms of STIS. RECOMMENDATIONS: Looking to the magnitude of STIs awereness in CFSWs in city we recommend that by counseling, behavioral changes and peer group pressure among CFSWs through social and governmental organization would have definite positive effort in increase knowledge in STIs, HIV/AIDS.
