Workshop on Coal Beneficiation and Utilization of Rejects: Initiatives, Policies and Practice August 22-24, 2007 (Ranchi, India)
The workshop on Coal Beneficiation was organized by Coal India Limited and was held at the Indian Institute of Coal Management in Ranchi India on August 22-24, 2007. The workshop is supported by the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, as a priority element of the Asia Pacific Partnership Coal Mining Task Force, and the Energy Dialogue Coal Working Group's work plans.
The workshop provided participants with an opportunity to understand and identify best practices, as adopted globally, addressing coal beneficiation in general and fine coals in particular, as well as examining best practices for generation of power from the waste coal (rejects) produced by such beneficiation. In addition, the discussion focused on the prevailing initiatives, policies and practices relevant to coal washing activities. Representatives included senior government officials and technical experts from the United States and India.
