(12/19/2007)105 Kennedy Street Zapata, Texas 78076 Phone: (956) 519-5600 Fax: (956) 519-5626 History On April 1, 2005, the Zapata Border Patrol Station was relocated from 2785 State Highway 83, Zapata, Texas to its present location, 105 Kennedy St., Zapata, Texas. The U.S. Border Patrol Station in Zapata, Texas has been in operation since October 1, 1990. The station began operations with a Patrol Agent in Charge and three Senior Patrol Agents. Presently, the Zapata Border Patrol Station is in operation under the direction a of Patrol Agent in Charge, with a staff of 3 Supervisors, 15 Border Patrol Agents, 1 Lead Intelligence Agent, 1 Mission Support Assistant, and 1 Student Aide.Area of Responsibility The Zapata Border Patrol Station’s operational area of responsibility is Zapata County, Texas, which consists of 939 square miles of land and 61 square miles of water. The station’s operational area boundaries extend along the U.S. - Mexico border for a distance of approximately 75 miles. The Webb County line and the Starr County line serve as the north and south boundaries on U.S. Highway 83. The eastern boundary is approximately 26 miles on State Highway 16 and FM Road 2687 to Jim Hogg County. Included in the station area is approximately 40 miles of Falcon Lake that extends from Zapata, Texas to the Falcon Dam that borders Mexico. International markers in the center of the river and the lake mark the jurisdictional boundaries. |
