Subject: Conference on Harmonic Analysis in Tunisia

>From the web site:
http://ichaa.50webs.com/

We plan to organize an International Conference on Harmonic Analysis
which takes place in Sousse, Tunisia from November 6 through 11, 2006.
The conference is entitled "Harmonic Analysis and Applications "

The activities will focus on commutative and non commutative harmonic
analysis, analysis on homogeneous spaces, representation theory,
hypergroups, special functions and the interplay between these fields.
It is planned as a forum for scientific and fruitful exchange of new
ideas in these different areas.

We hope that this conference will gather different people in Tunisia
working on Harmonic Analysis and some experts from several corners of
the world. Young researchers are particularly invited to attend the
event and even encouraged to present their recent works and to discuss
their subjects with experts. We shall organize some twenty minutes
contributed talks especially for that purpose.

Subject: Vadim Kuznetsov Memorial Issue

Guest Editors: Sergey Derkachov, Tom Koornwinder, Alexander Manashov,
               Orlando Ragnisco, Evgueni Sklyanin, Andrey Tsiganov

We would like to announce a special issue of journal SIGMA (Symmetry,
Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications) dedicated to the
memory of Vadim Kuznetsov.

Dr Vadim B. Kuznetsov (University of Leeds, UK), an expert in
integrable systems, died on 16 December 2005, aged 42. Click
http://www.ams.org/mathscinet-getauth?mrauthid=252000&return=viewitems&l
=100
to get a listing of Vadim Kuznetsov's papers from the AMS MathSciNet.

We invite researchers working in integrable systems and related areas to
submit a paper to this issue. The papers should have connection with the
fields Vadim was interested in. The papers will be published after peer
review.

We will greatly appreciate it if you present not only a research paper
but also some recollections about Vadim, if you knew him personally.

The journal SIGMA (Symmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and
Applications) is an online free access journal:
http://www.emis.de/journals/SIGMA/

Submitting a paper to the journal can be performed in two easy ways:
you can submit the paper to the arXiv.org and send the archive number
to sigma@imath.kiev.ua or send the zipped paper in TeX/LaTeX format
directly to sigma@imath.kiev.ua (please include a PDF or PostScript file
as well).

The journal style and sample article can be downloaded here:
http://www.emis.de/journals/SIGMA/example.zip

The length of an article is not limited.

Deadline for submission is November 1, 2006.

Sincerely yours,

Editors for SIGMA special issue in honour of Vadim Kuznetsov:

Sergey Derkachov (St.Petersburg Department of Steklov Institute
of Mathematics, Russia)
Tom Koornwinder (Universiteit van Amsterdam, the Netherlands)
Alexander Manashov (St.Petersburg State University, Russia)
Orlando Ragnisco (Universita di Roma Tre, Italy)
Evgueni Sklyanin (University of York, UK)
Andrey Tsiganov (St.Petersburg State University, Russia).

2006 SASTRA RAMANUJAN PRIZE
Call for Nominations

The Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology, Research Academy (SASTRA),
based in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India, has instituted the
SASTRA Ramanujan Prize of $10,000 to be given annually to a
mathematician not exceeding the age of 32 for outstanding contributions
in an area of mathematics influenced by the late Indian mathematical
genius Srinivasa Ramanujan. The age limit has been set at 32 because
Ramanujan achieved so much in his brief life of 32 years. The prize will
be awarded each year at an international conference conducted by SASTRA
in Kumbakonam, Ramanujan's hometown, around Ramanujan's birthday,
December 22.

The First SASTRA Ramanujan Prizes were awarded on Dec 20, 2005.

Nominations are now sought for the 2006 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize. The
winner will be invited to give a talk at the SASTRA conference Dec
21-23, 2006, and receive the prize. Nominations for the 2006 SASTRA
Ramanujan Prize must be made by July 31, 2006. A panel of experts will
select the winner from the nominations. The announcement of the winner
is expected around September 30. The person making the nomination must
assemble the vita of the nominee, some selected papers, and three
letters supporting the nomination and send these to

SASTRA Ramanujan Prize
Department of Mathematics
University of Florida
Gainesville, FL 32611, USA

or to

by July 31, 2006.

Topic #7  -----------   OP-SF NET 13.3  -------------  May 15, 2006
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From: OP-SF NET Editors
Subject: About the Activity Group
The SIAM Activity Group on Orthogonal Polynomials and Special Functions
consists of a broad set of mathematicians, both pure and applied.  The
Group also includes engineers and scientists, students as well as
experts. We have around 140 members scattered about in more than 20
countries. Whatever your specialty might be, we welcome your
participation in this classical, and yet modern, topic.  Our WWW home
page is:
  http://math.nist.gov/opsf/
This is a convenient point of entry to all the services provided by the
Group.  Our Webmaster is Bonita Saunders (bonita.saunders@nist.gov).
The Activity Group sponsors OP-SF NET, which is transmitted periodically
by SIAM.  It is provided as a free public service;  membership in SIAM
is not required.  The OP-SF Net Editors are Diego Dominici
(dominicd@newpaltz.edu) and Martin Muldoon (muldoon@yorku.ca).
To receive the OP-SF NET, send your name and email address to
poly-request@siam.org.
Back issues can be obtained at the WWW addresses:
  http://staff.science.uva.nl/~thk/opsfnet
  http://www.math.ohio-state.edu/JAT/DATA/OPSFNET/opsfnet.html
  http://math.nist.gov/opsfnet/archive
For several years the Activity Group sponsored a printed Newsletter,
most recently edited by Rafael Yanez. Back issues are accessible at:
http://www.mathematik.uni-kassel.de/~koepf/siam.html
Given the widespread availability of email and the Internet, the need
for
the printed Newsletter has decreased. Discussions are underway
concerning
whether an annual printed Newsletter or Annual Report should be
instituted.
SIAM has several categories of membership, including low-cost categories
for students and residents of developing countries.  For current
information on SIAM and Activity Group membership, contact:
  Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
  3600 University City Science Center
  Philadelphia, PA 19104-2688 USA
  email: service@siam.org
  WWW : http://www.siam.org
         http://www.siam.org/membership/outreachmem.htm
Finally, the Activity Group operates an email discussion group, called
OP-SF Talk.  To subscribe, send the email message
  subscribe opsftalk Your Name
to listproc@nist.gov.  To contribute an item to the discussion, send
email to opsftalk@nist.gov.  The archive of all messages is accessible
