Law 5443 of December 13, 1997 amends the Sanitary Processing of Livestock Products Act. Aims to adopt a new unitary system that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry administers the affairs of livestock products by abolishing the present dual system supervised both by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Changes its own title to the Processing of Livestock Products Act; includes meat-processing products¡¤dairy products¡¤egg-processing products by enlarging the extent of livestock products; requires the Minister of Health and Welfare to decide the sanitary standard through consultation with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry; may employ assistant inspectors who are veterinarians or have corresponding qualifications; and authorize the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry or any provincial governors to seizure and disposal of livestock products not suitable for the standard in this Act.
