Presents the resolutions derived from a conference of the WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia to discuss issues of nutrition and food borne disease. The conference addressed food safety policy, legislation and regulation, epidemiological systems, food safety training, and research needs. Presents the Ayurvedic Foundations, a company that conducts training sessions in Ayurveda. Nots that Ayurveda is a holistic system of medicine from India that uses a constitutional model of health. Barefoot College is a collection of community-based schools that began in 1972 with the philosophy that solutions to rural problems lie within the community. It addresses problems of drinking water, income generation, electricity and power, health centers, housing, social awareness and conservation of ecological systems in rural communities through its hands-on programs. The Web site outlines the activities of the Barefoot College and includes a map of locations throughout India, links to documentation on its approach to development and promotional videos.

Agency under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance that supervises the legal production, distribution, marketing, and use of narcotics, particularly opium. Established in 1980 the CBN supervises 36,000 hectacres of cultivated opium poppies in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh states; prevents illegal production of poppies and the traffic in opium; issues licences for the manufacture of narcotic drugs; and works with the International Narcotics Control Board in Vienna on issues related to the international trade of narcotics. Contains information on the church-based health organization which is the official health wing of the National Council of Churches in India which has a large network of hospitals including the Christian Medical College of Vellore and Ludhiana. The site includes a bibliography of health education materials, information on training programs, conferences and workshops. Agency under the Department of Rural Development that assists state governments in providing safe drinking water and sanitation to the rural population of India. The Web site provides information on drinking water schemes, relevant parliamentary materials, bilateral and multilateral projects, powerpoint presentations, state programs, statistics and reports. Agency under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare responsible standards in medical education in colleges and universities, development of pharmaceutical standards for Indian systems of traditional medicine and homeopathic drugs. Started in 1925 as British Empire Leprosy Relief Association it subsequently became the British Leprosy Relief Association. The site provides information on current leprosy projects regardless of sponsoring agency, research, and funding. Includes basic statistics of leprosy cases in India.

Provides organizational information the Ministry's two main components: the Department of Food and Public Distribution and the Department of Consumer Affairs. Includes daily retail price information on commodities such as sugar, edible oils and basic foodstuffs, annual reports, official policies, press releases, and information on cooperatives and standards. National Family Health Survey, India  (http://www.nfhsindia.org/)
Presents the first two national surveys (1991 and 1998-99) conducted by the International Institute for Population Sciences (India), ORC Macro (USA), and the East-West Center (USA). The first survey concentrated on population, health, and nutrition, with an emphasis on women and young children. The second survey dealt with quality of health and family planning services, domestic violence, reproductive health, anemia, the nutrition of women, and the status of women. The second survey includes final reports and state reports for Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The National Institute of Immunology (NII) in New Delhi, India, is a research institution that conducts fundamental research in the areas of human and veterinary health. The institute includes over 20 laboratories, a residential doctoral program, and conducts workshops. Established in 1959, the Institute serves as the national center for research and treatment of tuberculosis in India. The Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters of the School of Public Health at the Catholic University of Louvain in Brussels, Belgium, presents information on natural disasters in India. To be considered a disaster, there must be 10 or more people reported killed, 100 people reported affected, a call for international assistance, or a declaration of a state of emergency. The center highlights the top 10 natural disasters, a chronology of natural disasters, and raw data for India.
