Transmission coefficients for neutrons and protons 2225 1451 35 were obtained from the optical potential of Koning and Delaroche 2225 1451 36 using the ECIS code. The transmission coefficients for alpha 2225 1451 37 particles were obtained from the optical potential of McFadden 2225 1451 38 and Satchler. Those for deuterons are from the optical potential 2225 1451 39 of Perey and Perey. Alpha and deuteron transmission coefficients 2225 1451 40 were calculated using the SCAT2 routine. A simple Lorentzian is 2225 1451 41 assumed for the E1 photon strength function, and is normalized to 2225 1451 42 measured or systematic values of the average total s-wave 2225 1451 43 radiation width at the neutron binding energy. 2225 1451 44 2225 1451 45 Backshifted Fermi gas level density parameters are derived from 2225 1451 46 measured s-wave resonance spacings where available. For other 2225 1451 47 nuclei, systematic values are adopted. At low energies a constant 2225 1451 48 temperature form is adopted, and the two formulae are matched at 2225 1451 49 an energy between the backshift and the neutron binding energy so 2225 1451 50 as to give the best possible fit to known spectroscopic levels. 2225 1451 51 2225 1451 52 Discrete levels are taken from the Reference Input Parameter 2225 1451 53 Library (RIPL) with additional evaluations performed by R.
