Kingsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Border Patrol agents rescued four people, including three small children, hidden in a small compartment concealed within the trunk of a vehicle.

Yesterday evening, Border Patrol agents observed a Dodge Intrepid enter the Kingsville Border Patrol Checkpoint. While conducting an immigration inspection on the driver, a CBP Border Patrol Canine Team alerted to the trunk of the vehicle. The vehicle was then referred to the secondary inspection area where agents found four illegal aliens concealed in a compartment inside the vehicle’s trunk. They were identified as a 32-year-old Mexican female and her three children ages: 8, 10, and 11. The people appeared to be in good health and declined medical attention. The driver, a 20-year-old United States Citizen, was arrested and charged with alien smuggling.

Since October 1, Border Patrol agents have rescued 382 people in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.

To report suspicious activity, contact the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sectors’ toll free telephone number at (800) 863-9382.
