Transfers to Surface Impoundments
Surface impoundments include natural topographic depressions, man-made excavations and diked areas that primarily are made of earthen materials and which hold liquid wastes. These uncovered areas are commonly used to volatilize and/or settle materials. Data from Section 6.2, Code M63, on the TRI Form R. Prior to reporting year 2002, these transfers were included in Section 6.2, Code M72 (Transfers to Landfills/Disposal Surface Impoundments).
