Purpose
Quantify the physical properties (grain size, density, organic content)
and chemistry of sediments deposited behind Englebright Dam.
Information to be Derived
grain size distribution, organic content, sediment bulk density,
sediment geochemistry (mercury, methylmercury, trace metals).
Summary
Thirty boreholes were attempted at 7 sites spaced along the
longitudinal axis of the reservoir. Complete sedimentary sections were recovered
from 20 boreholes at 6 sites. In total, 335 m of sediment was cored, with 86%
average recovery.
Notes
Camelot houseboat also used. DOSECC (www.dosecc.org) GLAD 200 drilling
rig.
