Abstract |
This paper first gives background information on the Intelligent Vehicle Initiative, a successor to the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) program. The IVI program is designed to support the development of integrated electronic systems with collision avoidance navigation, and informational functions for several vehicle types including automobiles, trucks, buses and emergency response vehicles. Supporting technologies for user services are briefly identified followed by templates for three prototypes for the IVI: 1) the Safety Security and Communication (SSC) vehicle; 2) the Seeing Car; and, the Active Safety Vehicle (ASV). |
