U.S. Embassy to Host DVC on Alternative Energy Solutions

The U.S. Embassy in Kampala and the Center for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation (CREEC) of Makerere University’s Faculty of Technology will host a digital video conference (DVC) on “Alternative Energy Solutions” on Wednesday, October 18, 2006.

The conference, starting at 3.00 pm with an exhibition viewing, will be held at the Embassy on Ggaba Road.  The purpose of the conference is to promote discussion of  alternate forms of energy production, including solar, wind, small-scale hydroelectric and bio-fuels, that may have development potential in Uganda.  The exhibition, which will be mounted by Makerere University’s Faculty of Technology, will include various examples of alternative energy technologies.

The guest speakers at the DVC will be Dr. David Kline and Peter Lilienthal of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Energy Laboratory in Colorado.

Dr. Kline has twenty years experience in the analysis of energy markets and policies and has worked with partners in several countries around the world including China, Ghana, Egypt, Morocco and South Africa.

Peter Lilienthal has been active in the field of renewable energy and conservation since 1978.  His work has included development of independent power projects and consulting projects with industry and regulators.
