About the Innovative Technology Inventory

EPA recognizes that achieving environmental goals requires more than continued reliance on existing technologies. Companies must seek out new ways to effectively and economically treat, reduce, and prevent pollution. Innovative technologies offer the possibility of reconciling continued economic growth with strong environmental protection. As part of its effort to promote awareness of innovative technologies and to meet the needs of technology developers, the Center for Environmental Industry and Technology (CEIT) has set up the Innovative Technology Inventory (ITI).

The ITI is a web-based list and source of information on innovative technologies. The ITI contains information on more than 140 technologies submitted by more than 115 technology vendors. Technology companies are listed by technology type or by company name. Technology types include: Air Pollution Control, Containment, Detection/Monitoring, Drinking Water, Energy, Pollution Prevention, Product/Process Substitution, Remediation, Solid Waste, Spill Prevention, Storm Water/Erosion Control, and Waste Water.

EPA has other sites which feature innovative technologies. The ITI Storm Water and Wastewater technology types are linked to CEIT’s Technology Tradeshows, which provides information on Storm Water and Wastewater technologies and practices. EPA’s Technology Innovation Office offers a comprehensive database of Hazardous Waste Remediation and Site Characterization technologies, called EPA REACH IT (REmediation And CHaracterization Innovative Technologies). Links to EPA REACH IT are also provided under the Detection/Monitoring and Remediation technology listings in the ITI.
