    Station Crew Awaits Visitors

    Space shuttle Discovery lifted off from Kennedy Space Center, Fla., at 7:43 p.m. EDT Sunday, beginning STS-119, the 28th shuttle flight to the International Space Station.

    Expedition 18 Commander Mike Fincke and Flight Engineers Yury Lonchakov and Sandy Magnus are getting ready for STS-119’s arrival, set for Tuesday.

    Discovery and its crew will deliver to the station not only the final set of power-generating solar array wings, but also the newest Expedition 18 crew member.

    Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Koichi Wakata will replace Magnus.

    2009 International Space Station Calendar

    As part of NASA's celebration of the 10th anniversary of the International Space Station, the agency is offering a special 2009 calendar to teachers, as well as the general public.

    The calendar contains photographs taken from the space station and highlights historic NASA milestones and fun facts about the international construction project of unprecedented complexity that began in 1998.
