||||||||||||
The ISL is located at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and is operated by the Chemistry Division.
This ISL facility includes over 6000 sq. ft. of laboratory space dedicated to spectroscopy instrumentation and chemistry to serve as a comprehensive base for characterization of molecular structures.
Applications of these capabilities to programs of importance to the Department of Energy include: studies of active-site and secondary and tertiary protein structural dynamics, characterization of legacy waste and environmental actinide chemistry, and synthesis and analysis of biomimetic materials. |

The optical spectroscopy instrumentation includes both steady-state and time-resolved capabilities for electronic and vibrational spectroscopies. Small angle X-ray scattering, electrochemistry, electron paramagnetic resonance and a variety of sample handling protocols are also featured. Flexible integration of the many capabilities in the ISL is a primary strength of this facility. |
