WOCE Sea Level Data Availability

The map indicates sites from where sea level data are available. Red dotes are coastal tide gauge sites and blue dots are bottom pressure recorder deployments. Click on a region of the map to go to the North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Indian, North Pacific or South Pacific Oceans. Or scroll down to the list below, which also includes a link to the bottom pressure recorder data.

Data are available as ASCII or NetCDF files.

The ASCII data set contains files which have physical units, and have undergone quality control.  In BODC terms they will have been flagged to indicate null, suspect, or interpolated values, and also datum changes. But no data values will have been changed without the permission of the data collector. The original sampling interval (e.g. 6 minute, 15 minute, etc.) is used, and all parameters measured (e.g. any ancillary measurements, temperature, wind speed/direction, atmospheric pressure) are included. The files are in BODC Request format

The NetCDF data set comprises the same data set, but in NetCDF. More information about NetCDF is included on the WOCE DIU folder and also here. Also available is a Matlab routine and a FORTRAN routine for use with the Delayed-mode Sea Level data. A example of a 'delayed-mode' sea level NetCDF file header can be found here.

Both ASCII and NetCDF data are supplied as 'zip' compressed files.

Data and accompanying documentation are available by ocean, as follows:
