CBP Seizes 64 Packages of Narcotics Concealed in Vehicle Arriving on Ferry

Mayaquez, P.R. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a 42-year-old male for transporting narcotics from the Dominican Republic last week. The passenger arrived on board the Caribbean Express Ferry and is a resident of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
CBP officers discovered 64 packages hidden in a compartment of the vehicle. Several of the packages were field-tested and resulted positive for cocaine and heroin.The total weight of cocaine seized was 96.6 kilograms and 2.12 kilograms of heroin. The street value of drugs seized is approximately $1.9 million. The individual involved in the incident was arrested.U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
