 Comments

Comment: Cutler (1994:24) notes Sipunculidae "has historically been attributed to Baird (1868)," but attributes authorship to Rafinesque (1814:32). That work uses "Famille Sipuncula" for "G[enus]. Syrinx" (coined in Bohadsch 1761, a suppressed work) but does not mention the genus Sipunculus Linnaeus 1766. Should there be any issue with availability of the family name Sipunculidae from Rafinesque (1814), other works prior to 1868 would make the name available, e.g., Forbes (1841:243-251)
