Project 37/BMGR Phases I and II
(11/10/2008)Project Type: SBI Tactical InfrastructureSummary: Project 37 provides a tactical infrastructure border security solution along a 31.5 mile segment of the U.S.-Mexico border. The project – implemented in two separate phases – consists of both permanent vehicle fence and pedestrian fence. This fencing, combined with SBInet’s technology capabilities, will further U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP’s) ability to gain effective control of our Nation’s borders.Solution: Various types of fencing were used depending on the specific operational requirements and characteristics of the area to be fenced. Solutions were tailor-made to suit the type of environment (urban, rural, or remote) and geographic and climatic characteristics (hills, rivers, mountains, forest, desert, etc.).Location: The tactical infrastructure solution will be implemented from the San Luis Port of Entry to the Cabeza Prieta Wilderness Area along the Barry M. Goldwater Range (BMGR) in Arizona.Partners: Project 37 is a partnership between CBP and the Boeing Company, with Power Contacting, Inc. acting as a subcontractor to the Boeing contract.Timing: Phase I of the project was completed on April 11, 2007. Phase II of the project was completed on September 30, 2007. |
