Visiting Information Resource Officer Shares 25 Internet Secrets

Information Resource Officer Steve Mallinger greets guests at the Thurgood Marshall Information Resource Center

On February 6, the Information Resource Center (IRC) at US Embassy Conakry hosted a presentation by Information Resource Officer (IRO) Stephen Mallinger based on a research method called “Les 25 secrets pour la recherche sur le net”. The audience included 34 library directors, information specialists, journalists and students. To begin, the IRC Director talked about the public IRC resources including the lending and research library, internet connection, English language laboratory, and periodicals. Then the IRO outlined the secrets of internet research. The demonstration included how to access reference materials and sites like free online newspapers, the library of Congress, and even free online English lessons. The audience was so pleased that many are arranging similar training for their staffs.
