IRO Visits American Corner and University

During her February 23-27 visit to Vladivostok, Warsaw-based Information Resource Officer (IRO) Andrea McGlinchey delighted American Corner, university, and librarian audiences with a range of presentations on various topics. On February 24, at the American Corner, IRO McGlinchey gave a presentation on African American contributions to U.S. society to a packed room of students, alumni, and the general public. On February 25, at Vladivostok University of Economics (VGUES), she gave a presentation on the U.S. political system, focusing on the 2009 Inauguration and the presidential transition. The presentation was followed with a lively Q&A. Vladivostok PAO Bridget Gersten quizzed students on facts about Abraham Lincoln and President Barack Obama and presented prizes.  The IRO’s program also included a meeting with 50 librarians at the Vladivostok American Corner, where presentation topics included “Google and Beyond”, “U.S. Public Libraries” and “Marketing of Library Services.”
