Abstract:
The Idaho Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit's Landscape Dynamics Lab created the wildlife habitat relationship (whr) models for 379 terrestrial vertebrates that regularly breed in Idaho. Habitat associations for each species were determined by literature searches and expert opinion. These features were then selected from the following spatial datasets where appropriate: Idaho Land Cover, Idaho Digital Elevation Model, Idaho Climate Zones, and Distance to Hydrologic Features. The resulting maps were then restricted to the areas where the species had been observed (determined by occurrence within 635 sq. km hexagons). Each model was reviewed and edited as needed.
Purpose:
These data were developed for the Idaho Gap Analysis Project. They comply to minimum standards of the Gap Analysis Program of the Biological Resources Division, US Geological Survey as of January 1, 1999. These data are intended to aid in state level assessment of natural resources and are not intended for use at a scale greater than 1:100,000.
