International Trade Administration - Import Administration The Import Administration is one of four organizations within the International Trade Administration (ITA). ITA’s Import Administration is the agency’s lead unit on enforcing trade laws and agreements to prevent unfairly traded imports and to safeguard jobs and the competitive strength of American industry. The primary role of the Import Administration is to enforce effectively the U.S. unfair trade laws by administering the antidumping and countervailing duty laws. The Import Administration also develops and implements other policies and programs aimed at countering foreign unfair trade practices. In addition, Import Administration administers the Foreign Trade Zones program, the Statutory Import Program and certain sector-specific agreements and programs, such as the Textiles and Apparel Program and the Steel Import Monitoring and Analysis licensing system.
