[Acoustics] INI2XML file conversion problems w/Streampro files

If you have had this problem due to either 'access rights', or the
StreamPro files being on the Windows desktop, or some other reason, it is
probably a good idea to go in and delete the bogus w.001 files that were
created when you opened the *r.000 raw data files in WinRiver so they are
gone forever and never seen again.
What I would do (after long discussions with RDI tech support) is COPY the
folder with the adcp measurement data over to a folder such as C:/adcpdata
and then go into the folder and DELETE the bogus ***w.000 and ***w.001
files.... The only files left in each measurement folder should be
***r.000 raw data files and ***w.xml config files
Next, create the new ***w.000 files using INI2XML. Then check the folder
and see if the new ***w.000 files were created (check the timestamp column
next to the filetype column). Only those three filetypes should be present
in the folder at this time.
Then, when you open the r.000 raw data files in WinRiver, it will use the
w.000 config files you created using INI2XML to create valid w.001
files.... (instead of creating it's own bogus w.001 files because it
didn't have any w.000 files to work with).
When in WinRiver Playback Mode, if things are as they should be, up on
the top of the window, you should see something like;
[Default.wrw] (ghijQ42000w.000>>ghijQ42000w.001)
If it instead reads [Default.wrw] (ghijQ42000w.001) then the INI2XML
conversion was not successful, and you still have a problem. Hope this
helps, -Tim

Another factor to consider is the StreamPro files should not reside on the
Window Desktop but on the C: drive. According to RDI the INI2XML program
won't do the conversion eventhough the program indicates the files were
converted OK. This also might tie in to the user rights problem.

[Acoustics] INI2XML file conversion problems w/Streampro files
Has anyone else had problems converting StreamPro files using the INI2XML
software? We have used the StreamPro w/o problem since Mar. of 05, but
recently developed a problem processing the files for use with Winriver
Playback. We are not sure if this is a USGS Administrative rights issue or
something to do with the RDI software. A series of trouble shooting
sessions with the RDI service dept. has not solved our dilemma. Any
feedback would be appreciated.
