1. A method of occluding a fallopian tube, the method comprising:
(a) introducing an occlusive body having a non-absorbable distal region into a portion of the fallopian tube;
(b) reducing the transverse dimensions of said at least a portion of the fallopian tube by application of heat; and
(c) maintaining the occlusive body within said at least a portion of the fallopian tube having reduced transverse dimensions.
