Three CBP managers win presidential rank awards

President George W. Bush selected 297 executives representing 33 agencies and departments to receive the prestigious 2006 Presidential Rank Awards, the highest honor in civil service. Ten winners were from the Department of Homeland Security including three from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The three CBP managers who were honored are Luis Garcia, Director of Field Operations in El Paso, Tex.; Robert Jacksta, Executive Director of Traveler Security and Facilitation in Washington D.C. and Steven L. Basha, Associate Chief Counsel (Enforcement), Office of Chief Counsel, also of Washington D.C. They received the 2006 Presidential Rank Awards for Meritorious Executive.

This award is presented annually to members of the Senior Executive Service and the Senior Level and Scientific and Professional corps for outstanding leadership, accomplishments and service. Recipients of the Presidential Rank Awards must be nominated by their agency and then evaluated by a board of private citizens before being approved by the president.

Congratulations.
