Fwd: Occupancy due to scintillation?

Hi,

Ilia has some problem sending mail to the list. So I am forwarding his email.

Hi Takao,

There was some problem sending mail to HBD list, so I repeat it again:

the scintillation rate per pad is:

- the measured (by Craig and guys) absolute yield in CF4 (314 +/- 15)
gammas/MeV;
- # of gammas/track = 314*0.007(dE/dx)*50(cm)=110 gammas/track;
- # of p.e/track=110*0.885(mesh)*0.83(GEM)*0.23(QE)*0.8(eff_t)*2(2
arms)*0.625(dphi)*0.8(deta)=14.8 p.e./track;
- # of p.e/track/pad=14.8/1920=0.0077 p.e./track/pad;

So multiply this number by the charge multiplicity you like and you will
get the desired number which is close to 0. The scintillation is not an
issue for pp, it is even not an issue for peripheral AuAu events, this
"problem" starts to disturbs us in more central AuAu events.
