Ifa Lethu Art Exhibition

January 29, 2009

The exhibition opened in the US Embassy January 28 and is part of South Africa’s “Heritage Month” and features art created by approximately 30 students from previously marginalized communities, during a summer camp  co-sponsored by the US Embassy from June 25 – July 9, 2008.

Ifa Lethu is a nonprofit foundation supported by the South African Ministry of Arts and Culture that repatriates “struggle era” art and heritage back into the country.  The PAS –Ifa-Lethu project focused on the importance of heritage and culture as a nation building and team exercise and included presentations by prominent South African experts in the field of heritage.

During this final exhibition the paintings will be up for sale and the profits will be invested back into the students’ communities.
