Six RHB Routines Going Away In July

The RHB routines are a set of subroutines and programs developed by NIH Computer Center staff many years ago to assist program-mers with a number of functions. Several of the routines—numbers 231, 232, 236, 240, 241, and 242—that provided date and time information will not work after this year. As a result, these six routines will be removed from service on July 12, 1999.

The NIH Computer Center has not supported the RHB routines since June 1, 1993. (See issue 179 of Interface.)

What to Do If You Have RHB Routines

Anyone still using these routines should replace them using Y2K-compliant code. A good source for Y2K-compliant date routines is the language environment library—commonly called LE/370.

If you are using any RHB date subroutines and are having difficulty replacing them with Y2K-compliant code, please call TASC for assistance.

If you are unsure whether you are using RHB routines, you should test your application in the Y2K test domain. Information on the CIT test facility is on the Web at http://silk.nih.gov/silk/year2000.
