Border Patrol Holds First-Ever Hiring Event at Military Installation

(05/03/2007)
Soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) were recently invited to attend the first Border Patrol-specific hiring event ever to be held at a military installation. This significant event was held on April 27-28, 2007, at the SSG Glenn H. English, Jr. Army Education Center at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Through the coordination of the division’s Command Sergeant Major Frank Grippe, the members of CBP’s newly developed national recruitment “Tiger” team, which consists of CBP Border Patrol agents and an air interdiction agent, met with soldiers and their families during the two-day event.

Recruiters introduced the candidates, military personnel and their families, to the specific mission of the Border Patrol and Air & Marine Operations. The recruitment team was excited to see the motivation that each of the candidates expressed upon arrival to the Education Center. Cory Towne, a member of Office and Information Technology, provided the technical operations assistance which allowed the candidates to register on-line at the event. The recruiters also administered pre-test examinations that assisted the candidates in preparing for the scheduled written examinations.

After completing their commitments with the military, those individuals who have honorably served this nation will continue to have the opportunity to serve and to protect our nation’s borders by taking on new careers in federal law enforcement through Customs and Border Protection.
