Use of SRM File Streaming by Gateway

This set of slides describe the file streaming concept provided by the LBNL SRM product, called BeStMan. Concepts explained: Given a user space quota, clients can issue “file release” calls in order to help in efficient use of the cache, since this can free space as soon as files are transferred successfully to the client. Other advantages, such as “file sharing” and retaining of “popular (hot) files” are also described.
